Learning in Mathematics continued
Our planning and teaching takes account of the wide range of experience and ability that children show in developing their mathematical understanding. Children with high ability in the subject are identified and suitably challenged, while children who need longer to explore and understand new concepts work at an appropriate level and are supported to develop their mathematical confidence and understanding.
Children’s learning in mathematics is regularly assessed in order to check understanding and plan future learning activities. Children in Years 2 to 6 also take British standardised tests (SATs and OATs) to monitor progress at the end of each year. To facilitate the best possible learning opportunities, teachers at our school select from a wide variety of resources – schemes, text books and online resources – in their lesson planning.
