The British International Primary School of Stockholm was founded in 1980 and was initially run from a different location: a historic house in Danderyd called ‘Borgen’.
The school crest, of intertwined sea dragons, is derived from the carvings found in Borgen and, although the premises have changed, the name still features in the school’s traditions.
Our school moved to its present site in Östra Valhallavägen in 1985. The attractive historic building underwent extensive refurbishment in order to adapt it to the needs of the school. Our current site, in a quiet forested suburb near to the sea, provides an ideal environment for the education of primary-age children.
Originally called the British Primary School, we chose to update the name to The British International Primary School of Stockholm in August 2000. The new name reflects the fact that, although we teach the British curriculum, we are a truly international school with over 40 nationalities represented among staff and pupils.
In the years since it was established, the school has built a reputation for excellence in both its teaching and pastoral care. Our staff and parents have a shared commitment to providing children with the best possible education in their primary years and the school is a focal point for its international community.
The British International Primary School is a member of the Council of British Schools in the European Community (COBIS) and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and, as such, is linked to a network of British and international schools throughout Europe and beyond.
