The Foundation Stage (ages 3-5)
The Foundation Stage curriculum outlines learning for children in Nursery and Reception classes. It is an activity-based, broad curriculum specifically designed for very young children. The Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into six ‘Areas of Learning’:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication, language and literacy
- Mathematical development
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
- Physical development
- Creative development
Children progress through the Foundation curriculum by a series of ‘Stepping Stones’, ensuring that each child receives learning opportunities that are appropriate to their individual maturity and stage of development.
We combine the foundation stage early learning programme with the Early years units of the International Primary Curriculum.
Curriculum
