Art and Design stimulates children’s creativity and imagination. It provides a unique way of understanding and responding to the world and is a key area in developing an appreciation of world cultures and traditions. Children use colour, form, texture, pattern and different materials and processes to communicate what they see, feel and think. Children explore the ideas and techniques of a variety of artists and designers and learn to understand and appreciate the variety and functions of art in contemporary and historical societies.
