Art teaching at our school follows the English National Curriculum programme of study for Key Stages 1 and 2. We take every opportunity to integrate work in art with children’s learning in other areas of the curriculum: for instance, through history topics and in exploring the mathematical properties of pattern. We are fortunate in having a dedicated and fully equipped art room and kiln. Pottery is included in the curriculum but is also available as an after-school club, taught by a professional ceramics teacher, for those children who have a particular interest in the area. Children’s achievements in art are celebrated through the regular display of work, both in classrooms and throughout the school.
